1958 might seem like an innocuous year in the history of the world, but it was an incredibly important year for Carl’s Golfland. It was the year we were founded! 67 years ago, our roots were planted and the foundation for what we have become today was put in place.

In 1958, Arnold Palmer, Tommy Bolt, Peter Thomson and Dow Finsterwald were golf’s four major champions. Palmer was the PGA Tour money leader with $42,608 dollars earned.

Ted Williams became the highest paid player in Major League Baseball, re-signing with the Boston Red Sox for $135,000, Gordie Howe won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player and the Baltimore Colts beat the New York Giants to win the NFL Championship.

When Carl’s Golfland was founded in 1958, we started as a quaint 750-square-foot store in Pontiac, Michigan. We quickly expanded and grew, consistently named as one of GolfWorld’s 100 Best Golf Shops. We opened a second brick-and-mortar location in 2000 and were named to GolfWorld’s Best of the Best list in 2006.

We have continued to grow and update our facilities to over 50,000 square feet of golf retail and a global customer base online.
