The all-new DS-ADAPT family from COBRA is all about unlocking your potential on the golf course.
Whether that’s through added speed or adjustability to fit your game, the new line of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons has something for everyone. That starts with the latest in technology from the company with the FutureFit33 hosel.
It’s a brand new piece of technology that will allow the golfer to adjust loft and lie settings on the drivers and fairway woods up to two degrees in either direction. Going with its name, there will be 33 fitting options depending on the shot shaping correction you’re looking for.
It’s the first time ever that the company is offering the ability to change loft and lie independently where one won’t impact the other. COBRA even added what they’re calling a SMARTPAD on the sole, which will enable the face to remain square regardless of the setting.
Typically, changing the loft would impact the position of the face, but the SMARTPAD helps mitigate that to keep you lined up properly.
Having 33 options might seem daunting for the average golfer, but COBRA is making it as easy as possible to figure out the exact setting you need based on your miss. A QR code on the clubhead will take you to COBRA’s website with a guided questionnaire to figure out your ball flight.
Once you answer the questions, COBRA will automatically show you the setting on the FutureFit33 hosel to help you straighten out your shot.
Driver
The driver comes in four different models with the X, LS, MAX-K and MAX-D options available.
The X will likely be the model that fits most golfers and is designed for someone looking for a fast, low spin driver with higher launch and forgiveness. It has tour inspired shaping that gives it an elevated look and promotes workability. The X will come with a back weight and forward weight that are adjustable to optimize spin and center of gravity depending on your swing needs.
The LS is also a tour inspired shape, but is a low spin and low launch option for players who want maximum workability and control.
”Most golfers that fit into an LS are people who swing faster, people who are trying to manage their trajectory down or keep the low spin and keep the speed,” Jose Miraflor, COBRA Vice President of architecture and consumer connection, said. “These golfers, above 100, above 105 or 110 (mph) would really benefit from this driver, because we have a bridge system on the nine degree that pushes the center of gravity as far forward as possible, giving you that speed and that super low spin. So, our Tour players, the likes of Ricky, Gary, Lexi, all love this nine-degree model because it helps control their trajectory and make the driver super workable for them.”
Adjustable heel and toe weights are complemented by a third back weight, which allows for adjustability and optimization along with the FutureFit33 hosel.
The MAX-K is a new offering from COBRA and is a 10k MOI driver and is COBRA’s most forgiving and straightest flying driver the company has ever created.
”Today there’s big talk about 10k; forgiveness is very in. In order to make a 10k driver, you have to save every bit of discretionary weight to move it to the back of the driver to make it super stable,” Miraflor said. “So, that’s what we did. We took that MAX driver, removed the heel weight, saved that 10 grams, pushed it all the way to the back of the driver. Maximized the shape according to the USGA and came up with our first 10k driver, which we’re calling MAX K.”
The driver achieves 10k MOI using a fixed external back weight and an internal back weight to position the center of gravity as low and back as possible. The shape brings speed and forgiveness and an elevated look at address to inspire confidence.
The MAX-K, along with all of the driver models, also feature a larger forged face insert with H.O.T. technology that offers improved face flex for more distance and ball speed.
The MAX-D model is a draw bias driver with low to mid spin, looking to create as much distance and speed as possible.
“People still need draw creation, or slice correction. So, making a driver that can really turn the ball right to left if you’re a right-handed golfer, super important,” Miraflor said. “So, we came up with the MAX D, where we’re taking all the discretionary weight all the way from the back and pulling it towards the hosel to make it super easy to square up.”
The draw aspect comes in the form of a heel weight both externally and internally to create maximum draw bias.
Fairway woods and hybrids
There will be three models available in the fairway woods with the MAX, X and LS-Ti, and all will feature the FutureFit33 technology.
The MAX has an internal weight pad positioned in the back and heel area to create the maximum draw bias. It also has adjustable back and heel external weight to further tune the draw bias on the fairway wood.
The X is made for forgiveness and has a back weight that will promote higher launch for maximum carry distance and stopping power when you’re hitting into greens. The lightweight carbon crown puts the center of gravity lower and further back to help with launch conditions.
The LS model is made of a multi-material construction that includes lightweight titanium in the body and face, as well as a carbon crown to help with weight distribution. Internal tungsten weighting in the heel and toe helps to improve stability and ultimately give you tighter dispersion.
Finally, the hybrids help blend distance with high launch and give you more forgiveness on longer approach shots. The hybrids have a re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE to position weight creating lower center of gravity and more forward to help reduce spin.
Irons
COBRA created a hollow construction iron with the largest SPEEDSHELL face insert that wraps further around the toe and sole area.
The insert paired with H.O.T. Face technology brings 23 percent more face flex than the previous models, which will help give you more speed and distance.
The hollow cavity is filled with a soft foam that helps sound and feel to dampen vibrations while the hollow body will help improve weight distribution. The complete picture ultimately will help you unlock more distance and add forgiveness where you need it.
