Mizuno calls its Pro T-1 and T-3 wedges its best feeling and performing wedges that Mizuno has ever made. Those are impactful claims considering the quality wedges the company has produced in the past.
The Pro T-1 and T-3 wedges have joined the Mizuno Pro family and have been engineered for unmatched feel and control. The idea behind the wedges was to deliver spin consistency, shot versatility and the company has done just that.
Starting with the Pro T-1, it’s offered in six different grind options, including the new X profile. X is described as the most aggressive relief for versatility and lower effective bounce. The S-grind is a full swing wedge with straight bevel relief, the M-grind is a moderate effective bounce, P-grind is enhanced relief with plus effective bounce, the C-grind has more aggressive relief resulting in a C-shape and the V-grind is the most aggressive relief for versatility and higher bounce.
The Pro T-1 will be featured in the blue ion, black ion and soft white satin finishes and is meant to be the more versatile of the two wedges. Mizuno used its grain flowing forged HD process and a 1025 pure select mild carbon steel with a copper underlay in the construction to help with feel.
The Pro T-1 has a compact teardrop shape with a straighter leading edge and features the quad cut + grooves and hydroflow micro grooves to bring exceptional spin control in both wet and dry conditions. The quad cut gives the club face a tighter groove pattern and the hydroflow technology helps channel moisture away for consistent performance.
Mizuno describes the Pro T-3 as a wedge with stability that meets forgiveness. It contains the same materials as the T-1 and the same forging process, as well as the quad cut and hydroflow grooves, but is offered in three grind options.
The T-3 can be purchased in the S, M and C grinds ranging from 46 to 60 degrees. The stability and forgiveness comes in with the shallow cavity back, which offers a slightly increased head length. The design, Mizuno says, ensures consistency and control, especially on off center strikes.
Whether you prefer the more compact T-1 or the more forgiving T-3, Mizuno believes these wedges will help you master your short game.
