PING s259 Wedges
PING’s new s259 wedges are built to give golfers of all abilities improved precision and versatility, all while bringing a Tour-preferred look, feel and sound.
With six grind options and 25 loft and grind combinations available, the new wedge has something for every golfer and brings incredible technology to up your game. The s259 wedge is designed with an investment-cast 8620 carbon steel head with a larger and re-shaped elastomer insert.
The shaping comes from tour feedback to bring a refined shape, shorter hosel and a center of gravity that is centered from heel to toe and lower for flighted trajectory.
In addition to the refined shape, PING brought wheel-cut grooves to the wedge that are precision-milled to varying dimensions, depending on the loft. The 54-to-62-degree wedges will have have more tightly spaced MicroMax grooves and includes a full-length bottom groove with friction-adding face blast.
The lower-lofted s259 wedges will come equipped with a straighter leading edge with a lower and more centered of gravity to create better gapping and blending into PING iron sets. The middle lofts (50-54 degrees) will have the full-length bottom groove and higher center of gravity to help with distance control and off-speed wedge shots, while the higher-lofted wedges (56-62 degrees) will have more offset and the smaller hosel to bring more confidence.
The 46-to-52-degree wedges also have a 20-degree sidewall that are milled to maximize groove volume for better control on full shorts.
With the different grinds available, the B Grind is designed for golfers with a shallow attack angle and neutral face delivery with low bounce. The W Grind is built for a steep attack angle with a lot of shaft lean and has maximum forgiveness.
The H Grind is again for steeper attack angles and best in softer conditions. The E Grind has been redesigned and reshaped to give a more familiar look at address while maintaining high performance from the sand and slightly-open-faced shots. The E Grind is the ultimate bunker club with low bounce.
The T Grind is also redesigned and reshaped with a steeper trail edge that allows the face to sit very low on open-face shots. It’s the most versatile grind option and is ideal for medium to firm turf conditions.
The S Grind is for a wide variety of conditions and techniques and has heel and trail edge relief for versatility.
The s259 wedges from PING will also come in two different finishes with an anti-glare midnight finish that is available in all lofts and grinds, as well as a hydropearl chrome finish.
In addition to the lofts, grinds and finishes, PING is adding new Dylawedge grips with indicator lines on the grip to help with shaft lean and face angle consistency. The lines on the wedge will help you align the shaft and face in the same position every time to give you more confidence when getting creative with your shots.
The s259 wedges bring tour shaping, trajectory control, spin optimization and consistency with everything you would expect from PING.
