The G440 family from PING was designed to bring more ball speed and forgiveness without sacrificing one for the other.
Each club, whether it’s driver, fairway woods or irons, was uniquely optimized through a variety of methods to save weight, increase ball speed or increase forgiveness. Optimizing performance and launch conditions was at the forefront of what PING built and the results speak for themselves.
Driver
In the drivers, PING is bringing the deepest center of gravity to date and a shallower, thinner face. The engineers also found a unique way to save weight to help distribute throughout the driver by creating free-hosel technology.

PING removed weight from a section of the hosel and re-allocated it throughout the club to push mass lowe. Obtaining a deeper center of gravity gave the drivers faster ball speeds and higher launch.
Because the engineers were able to produce higher launch, the thought process is that golfers should be able to play a lower loft than they typically would in other drivers. Playing that lower loft while launching it higher will theoretically give you longer drives and higher ball speeds.
In addition, PING increased the standard shaft length by a quarter inch, which again should help golfers swing faster, but still maintaining tight dispersion.
There are three models of drivers in the G440 line, starting with the G440 Max. It’s the most forgiving model in the line and will fit most golfers. The Max comes with a three-position adjustable back weight.
The G440 LST is the low spin model and meant for golfers with faster swing speeds who want lower spin.
The G440 SFT is a straight flight option for the golfer looking for slice-correction. It comes with a two-position adjustable 23-gram back weight that gives Draw or Draw+ bias.
Fairway Woods and hybrids
The fairway woods will have the same three models available, but do offer some different features than the drivers. The drivers have a lower face height for a thinner and hotter reaction to create more ball speed, but the fairway woods have a taller face in the G440 line.

The face is taller in the fairway woods for more confidence off the tee while still maintaining a center of gravity location that brings high launch.
Similar to the driver, the fairway woods will have the free-hosel technology and will also come with an eight-position adjustable hosel that can change loft up or down 1.5 degrees and lie up to three degrees flatter than standard.
The hybrids will have an eight percent shallower face, which should help golfers launch the ball higher. They will also be equipped with the adjustable hosel, which can help with shot shape and ball flight in a club that typically misses left.
Irons
The G440 irons are a game improvement line packed full of technology in an attractive design that brings distance and forgiveness.
PING moved to a shallower face in the irons, which allowed the engineers to make the face nine percent thinner than the previous model. That helps increase ball speed across the face, while giving a more compact, player-preferred look.

The engineers were able to save four grams of mass in each iron through the face height and thickness reduction. They were then able to move mass lower and farther back in the head to lower the center of gravity and help with forgiveness.
Overall, the entire family is built on the consistency that PING brings with every product, but is pushing innovation further and further ahead. Whether it’s with the free-hosel technology, a hotter face, shallower face heights or taller face heights, PING has brought its best with the G440 line.
