Garmin R50 Approach Launch Monitor

November 13, 2024

Garmin has taken the launch monitor to a whole new level with its Approach R50.

The launch monitor features a 10-inch color touchscreen, three high-speed cameras, over 43,000 preloaded golf courses and can track more ball and club measurements than past models. The options with the Approach R50 will make practicing and playing even easier and more dynamic than ever before.

“Leveraging our most advanced technology with an elaborate three-camera system, our Approach R50 can provide golfers of all levels with the cutting-edge metrics and analysis they need to help improve their game,” Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales, Dan Bartel, said in a release. “Whether you want to see specific shot metrics, see how and where the ball comes off your club, or just want to play a round on a rainy day, we’ve got your game.”

The main standout for the Approach R50 is its touchscreen that not only displays the club and ball metrics, but also acts as a simulator and displays the golf course you’re playing and shot you hit. It can be paired to a projector and shown on a separate screen or used independently with just the launch monitor itself.

The preloaded courses will allow you to play full rounds with up to four golfers and participate in weekly tournaments. It comes with upgraded course maps and more detail for a realistic playing experience.

The launch monitor can also be used indoors or outdoors, so you’re able to take it to the practice tee and utilize the technology to improve your game. You’ll be able to view 15 ball and club metrics, including spin rate, spin axis, ball speed, launch angle, face to path, club path, carry distance, total distance and attack angle among others.

In addition to the metrics, the high-speed cameras will deliver impact videos so players can see a close-up look at their contact point for each shot. Training mode will record practice sessions and save stats for each club, giving you the option to see improvements in your game as you continue to use the launch monitor.

The Approach R50 will have four hours of battery life and is designed to bring a premium simulator experience at a more affordable price.
