Titleist has already seen a ton of success with its GT line of drivers and fairway woods, building in generational technology to gain speed and stability.
The brand is now expanding on the line with the GT1 driver and fairway wood, and adding in hybrids to give more options to more golfers who want to experience the technology behind the GT line.
When Titleist launched the line of GT2, GT3 and GT4 drivers and fairway metals, it was a technological breakthrough for the company. The engineers found a way to save weight in the clubhead by developing all-new materials with its Proprietary Matrix Polymer and creating a seamless thermoform crown.
The clubs feature a split mass construction that helped create higher launch and optimal speed and stability. Titleist also added in a speed ring and VFT technology on the face to create greater ball speeds and more distance.
The GT2 was built with speed and forgiveness in mind, while the GT3 has distance and control along with an adjustable center of gravity track positioned closer to the face to help with shot shaping. The GT4 has mid-launch and the lowest spin of the three models with a 430cc compact player-preferred shape.
The GT4 is for consistent ball strikers looking for lower spin and has two adjustable sole weights.
GT1 Driver and fairway metal
Now, Titleist is bringing in the GT1 to the line to add yet another option for golfers with moderate swing speeds. They feature ultra-lightweight configurations and bring higher launch and mid-spin performance.

“When we began thinking about how we evolve and improve upon the ‘1’ models, we started by tapping into our global network of fitting specialists to understand what it is that would really advance performance for GT1 players,” Titleist Director of Metalwood Product Development, Stephanie Luttrell, said. “The resounding feedback that we head across the board for the driver, fairways and hybrids is that anything we can do to increase launch is going to help this player improve their overall trajectory, consistency and distance. Making the line launch higher, while maintaining optimal spin rates, is really going to benefit both the moderate speed player, as well as the player that is naturally low spin.”
The GT1 features all the same technology as the other models in the GT line, including an aerodynamic shape. The GT1 driver has the shallowest head and face depth in the lineup, as well as refined crown and sole shape curvatures to help with faster clubhead speeds.
The GT1 fairway metals feature a new adjustable forward-aft flat-weights that give fitters and golfers greater control over their launch conditions. The metals have an 11-gram and 3-gram weight that can be positioned to create high-MOI or flipped to lower spin and increase speed.
“With the GT1 fairways, we received feedback from fitters that having two CG positions would be a real benefit,” Titleist Metalwoods Principal Product Manager, Tom Bennett, said. “Having the option to move that weight forward in the fairway really gives fitters a good opportunity to fit different types of players into GT1 than we could have with TSR1. We’ve done a lot of consumer testing and what we found was that about 60 percent of players preferred the heavy weight in the aft, while 40 percent preferred it moved forward. That tells us that having both options makes a big difference.”
Hybrids
There are three models available in the hybrids with GT1, GT2 and GT3, all configured with different technology for different type of golfers. All three of the hybrids have refined shaping and a new flat-weight adjustability.

The center of gravity for all three models will be set in the stock setup as an 11-gram flat weight and a 5-gram flat weight in certain positions. The GT1, the 11-gram weight comes in the aft position and the 5-gram is in the forward position. In the GT2 and GT3 hybrids, they both offer a heel-toe weighting system with stock having the 11-gram weight in the heel and the 5-gram weight in the toe. Putting the heavy weight in the toe would result in a more fade-biased setup.
The GT1 hybrid is the highest-launching of the hybrids within the line and is made for forgiveness. It’s for players looking for higher flight and mid-spin and comes, similarly to the GT1 driver and fairway metals, with a lightweight configuration for the moderate swing speed player.
The GT2 has the highest total MOI of all the hybrids in the GT lineup and delivers a high ball flight. It’s a sleeker, refined profile with a flatter sole design that is designed to sit flush against the turf.
Finally, the GT3 hybrid offers a mid-high ball flight and workability. It has a smaller, more iron-like profile, but still comes with the heel-toe center of gravity adjustability as mentioned before.
All of these new additions to the GT lineup make this a well-rounded offering from Titleist, giving every golfer something that fits them.
