All-New Bridgestone TOUR B Balls with VeloSurge
After four years of research and development and hundreds of tests and prototypes, Bridgestone has released a new innovation into its TOUR B lineup that brings an average of 2.3 miles per hour increase in ball speed and 8.7 yards in distance.
VeloSurge is a core-mantle integration technology that has given Bridgestone an exciting new material to push the Tour B lineup to new heights.
“It took a tremendous amount of work to develop VeloSurge Technology and the new family of TOUR B golf balls,” Dan Murphy, President of Bridgestone Golf, said in a statement. “The results speak for themselves, and I’m confident saying this is undeniably the most advanced iteration of the TOUR B golf ball we’ve ever produced. Anyone who gets fit for the new TOUR B will immediately see the difference in ball speed, distance, accuracy and durability.”
VeloSurge was introduced in Bridgestone’s VS Proto Project that was launched last year to test the new product. It features a denser mantle material that pushes the MOI to what Bridgestone says is bounds never seen in a golf ball.
It brings a seamless synergy between the mantle and the core in an additive that has seen more speed and distance.
“The new ball is ridiculous,” PGA Tour pro Jason Day, said. “I went to Bridgestone for the best short-game control, and now the new TOUR B X is giving me more ball speed and longer drives. If you want real performance gains, get fit for this new TOUR B – you’ll thank me later.”
Day saw an increase in ball speed and distance from the moment he tested the ball with Bridgestone’s R&D team at his home in Ohio. He has already put the ball in play as adaption has been high from Bridgestone’s Tour ambassadors.
The R&D team went through 240 prototypes to get the final version of the new ball exactly where it needed to be. It will be offered in the TOUR B RX and TOUR B RXS for swing speeds under 105 mph, and TOUR B X and TOUR B XS for swing speeds over 105 mph.
What was interesting to Bridgestone’s team is that their Tour pros weren’t the only ones seeing results. When tested with amateur players across the country, Bridgestone saw incredible gains with average golfers who could use the help from a higher MOI ball with more speed.
The TOUR B line of balls will continue to feature MindSet, which was developed with Jason Day and his performance coach, Jason Goldsmith, to bring analytical thoughts into athletic performance on the putting green. Identify, visualize and focus are the three main key points for MindSet and gives golfers a visual cue to commit to executing a putt.
The balls will also continue to feature the REACTIV-IQ smart cover technology that reacts to the force applied to the ball due to impact modifiers. It helps deliver more spin on scoring shots, while reducing spin off the tee.
Bridgestone believes it has achieved a breakthrough in speed and distance with the newest iteration of its TOUR B golf balls and the results speak for themselves.
