2026 Callaway Chrome Family of Golf Balls

Callaway Chrome Tour Golf Ball

The latest iteration of Callaway’s Chrome family of golf balls delivers faster speeds and longer distances with more consistency than the previous generation. Through technological advancements in materials that are seamlessly manufactured, Callaway was able to produce incredible results to build upon the success of the original Chrome balls.

“I think the hero technology for ’26 is a new material that we developed with a key material supplier. It’s called a Tour fast mantle and it’s 16 percent higher flex modulus,” Eric Loper, Callaway’s Sr. Director, Research and Development, said. “When you put it in the mantle layer, just under the soft urethane cover, under compression, it’s going to launch with more velocity because it’s like a stiffer spring.”

That new material is a big part of why Callaway is seeing the new results within the Chrome Family. What Loper and his team have seen thus far is faster ball speeds, longer distance and more consistency.

“In ’24, we relaunched the Chrome Soft, launched the Chrome Tour and launched the Chrome Tour X,” Loper said. “And what we wanted to do is to extend that benefit even further in 2026. So, the new golf balls are going to be faster, they’re going to be longer more consistent than the prior gen.”

The Chrome Tour golf ball is going to be for a better golfer that uses a soft urethan cover for great greenside spin. It is going to have a more penetrating ball flight and will be more consistent flight into the wind.

Chrome Tour X will be a firmer golf ball and the highest spinning around the green. It’s designed for a player who is seeking more workability or shot shaping into the green and more greenside control.

Chrome Soft is designed for the golfer that’s looking for a soft feel, more forgiveness and higher launch angle.

Callaway prioritized the new golf ball and wanted to ensure that the latest iteration pushed the boundaries forward on what the performance brought its golfers.

“Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X, we get a lot of feedback from our Tour players. And then feedback from consumers, avid golfers, on the Chrome Soft,” Loper said. “And then our engineers come together, going, how do we get more out of this golf ball?”

Through testing and simulations, Callaway was able to achieve the desired results through this new golf ball and throughout the entire family.
