Personal launch monitors are a great way to practice at home with data and analytical feedback right at your fingertips. Garmin released its Approach R10 in 2021, and has continued to improve on the model, making it an excellent option for someone looking for an affordable launch monitor.
It’s portable with a small tripod like setup and compact design that makes it usable indoors or on the driving range.
Garmin makes it easy to setup and use, whether you’re looking to track stats or play games, you can do a little bit of everything.

If you’re looking to use the R10 as a practice tool to improve your game, the device can be used on the range and will track club head speed, angle of attack, ball speed, spin, launch angle, launch direction, carry distance, total distance and smash factor among other metrics. If you use the corresponding app, it will automatically record your swing on video, as well, so you can see the numbers and see your swing.
That’s a great accompaniment to the numbers, unless you’re in a slump and don’t want to actually see a replay of your swing.
Garmin announced a partnership with Titleist in 2022, that uses Titleist RCT’s radar capture technology that gives it up to 30 times more accurate reading of spin rate and up to 50 percent increase in carry distance accuracy when paired with the Titleist RCT golf ball.
The app and a membership to the subscription service also lets you play simulator golf on over 42,000 courses worldwide.
