Titleist GTS300 Mini Driver

Titleist has improved its mini driver and made some distinct changes from the previous GT280 model, making the new GTS300 a more forgiving and larger footprint club.

The GTS300 mini driver was heavily influenced by Tour feedback, including Titleist players like Justin Thomas and Cameron Young. Both players provided performance improvement suggestions based on the GT280, which helped lead to the latest launch.

The GTS300 has a larger footprint than the GT280, with a 305cc clubhead and a deeper center of gravity, which helps increase the moment of inertia for better forgiveness.

“We’re all looking for feedback from the best players in the world,” J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s Senior Director of Club Promotions, said. “Both those players were really excited about Gt280 and also had some commentary about potential performance improvements. As we worked through some prototypes with not only JT and Cam, but other Tour players as well, we were able to gather valuable feedback and put that into GTS300.”

Despite the change in volume, compared to the GT280, the two mini drivers share the same face height to maintain high performance off the turf. The GTS300’s composite crown design, however, gave Titleist more discretionary weight savings to optimize mass allocation.

“When we originally built GT280, a lot of it was trying to make sure that we were looking for as much performance off the ground as we could,” Van Wezenbeeck said. “Players started saying, ‘Hey, I can actually hit this off the ground really well. I’m looking for some more forgiveness.’ And so there was an opportunity for R&D to make the head slightly bigger and increase MOI while still maintaining all the off the ground performance.”

The GTS300 also has a forged L-Cup face, which has a high-strength ATI 425 titanium insert that wraps around the bottom of the clubface. The L-Cup helps preserve ball speed and launch conditions on low-face impacts.

In addition, the GTS300 also has a dual-weighting system with forward-aft flat weight adjustability. The heavier 11-gram weight is positioned in the back, with the 3-gram weight forward in the stock position. Flipping those two weights can help lower launch and spin as needed.

The new mini driver is available now for pre-order and will be available for purchase on July 23 at Carl’s Golfland.
