PING G740 Irons
PING says that its all-new G740 irons are its longest, most forgiving iron the company has created. That is a strong claim for a brand that has produced plenty of outstanding irons in its past.
The slogan for the G740 irons is Maximum Everything as it brings a combination of distance, forgiveness and consistency in a super-game improvement iron.
One of the key attributes helping with the forgiveness is the wide dual-camber sole that helps lower center of gravity to help give golfers higher launch. It also helps with turf interaction to give this golfer an easier time getting through the turf at impact. The sole is 22 percent wider than the G440 irons and a three percent longer blade.
PING created a thicker topline and maximized perimeter weighting to once again help lower the center of gravity. It also helps increase MOI for forgiveness and helps retain ball-speed on mis-hits. PING created a shallower face height and shorter hosel to save weight, which allowed the engineers to put mass in the back of the cavity to improve sound.
In addition, a PurFlex cavity badge was added to improve impact experience and ultimately sound and feel by dampening vibrations.
