PING i540 Irons
PING is delivering distance and stopping power with the all-new i540 irons in the players distance category.
PING has had a ton of success in this category, building out highly engineered, fast and long players distance irons. The R&D team continues that success with the i540, bringing in more stopping power and distance.
A big part of the design for this year’s model is a shallower face that saves weight and a covered cavity badge. That allows for tungsten to be placed near the sole on the 4-7 irons to lower the center of gravity and bring increased ball speed with a higher launch angle.
The variable-thickness face is also nine percent thinner that creates metal-wood-like bending to bring faster ball speeds and higher launch to help stop the ball faster. The i540 irons also come in a players-style design that suits the eye of players looking for a more compact players style.
What comes with style is also feel and PING has brought technology to the forefront in that realm, as well. With i-Beam technology, PING added a structural support that improves the sound and feel, as well as In-R Air.
The In-R-Air features an air pocket in the clubhead that helps with vibration frequencies and for improved sound and feel. It’s an innovation that has helped the brand bring better feel to a cavity back iron that looks like a players club.
