New Srixon ZXi Irons
Srixon’s all-new ZXi irons have been hand shaped and precisely engineered to deliver the unmistakable feel you have come to expect from the brand’s irons.
The family is made up of the ZXi7, ZXi5, ZXi5+ and the ZXiU to bring feel, perfected. Srixon engineer Yuki Shimihara and his team dove in to the irons to develop to new technology, looks and performance goals for this generation of ZXi irons.
The R&D team worked through prototypes that were carefully molded by a master Japanese craftsman to ultimately land on the latest iteration. The engineers utilized i-FORGED technology, which is the most advanced breakthrough in metallurgy and a one-of-a-kind formula that strengthens and enhances every ZXi iron for superior feel.
It also helps bring more distance, forgiveness and control along with condensed forging. Srixon builds in subtle raised structures early in the stages of forging where impact stress is highest. Through extreme heat and thousands of pounds of pressure, the extra structures are compressed into the head to give players targeted strength where it matters and softness everywhere else.
The ZXi7 is a players iron that Srixon describes as refined, tour-preferred looks with pro-level feel and unmatched control.
The ZXi7 has refined players shaping that was guided by Srixon’s Tour staff to give the irons a cleaner profile with slightly thinner toplines. The three-to-seven irons feature wider grooves for longer shots in any conditions, and the eight-iron to a-wedge deeper, closer-set groves to cut through grass and debris.
The ZXi7 also has Srixon’s Tour V.T. Sole with a proprietary combination of sole widths, bounce angles and notches to help with turf interaction. PureFrame iQ gives this model the thicker ridge of steel behind the sweet spot to reduce face deformation and use less mass than previous generations.
The technology and shorter blade lengths make these an excellent option for better players looking for feel and workability.
The ZXi5 is a players performance iron that blends distance and forgiveness with a slightly wider sole than the ZXi7 and a longer blade length with more offset.
Srixon implemented a variable face design and weighting system in the ZXi5 to optimize performance that they call Mainframe IQ. The face technology has been driven through simulations, but the engineers rebuilt the approach around mass efficiency for the new irons.
Through the new process, Srixon was able to move up to four grams away from the face for lower center of gravity and higher MOI compared to the previous generation. The technology optimizes throughout the set, giving more forgiveness to the longer irons and more control in the shorter irons.
The ZXi5 will have slightly stronger lofts than than the ZXi7 from the five-iron to AW, to bring more distance.
In addition to ZXi5, Srixon is introducing its ZXi5+ players distance irons with a forgiving, compact shape. The ZXi5+ has longer blade lengths, wide soles and stronger lofts than the ZXi5 for more distance and forgiveness.
For example, the six-iron in the ZXi5+ has a loft of 26 degrees, compared to 27 degrees in the ZXi5. The ZXi5+ seven-iron is at 29.5 degrees, while the ZXi5 seven-iron is at 31 degrees. The ZXi5+ still has all the benefits and features that the ZXi5 has with progressive grooves, Tour V.T. Sole, i-Forging and Mainframe iQ, but with more distance and forgiveness.
The ZXiU is Srixon’s utility iron for long iron replacements that offer higher launch and incredible forgiveness in a blade-like design. The ZXiU will come in a two, three and four-iron, and is designed with Mainframe iQ, Tour V.T. Sole and the i-Forged process.
The new ZXi irons are built with feel and performance in mind and offer something for every golfer. They are integrated with similar shaping and technology so golfers can create blended sets seamlessly if they desire.
The ZXiU pairs perfectly with the ZXi7 for skilled players looking for long iron launch and forgiveness with highly workable short irons. The ZXi5 and the ZXi7 go well together for players looking for forgiveness from four to six-iron and feel in the seven-iron to pitching wedge.
For those players looking for distance and forgiveness with a players design, go with the ZXi5+ from four to six-iron and the ZXi5 in seven-iron to pitching wedge.
No matter the combination, Srixon’s all-new ZXi irons are feel, perfected, and hand crafted to give you incredible performance throughout the bag.
