This lighter, softer, and remarkably durable material, which was only developed after finding every available metal inadequate, allowed for a design completely devoid of compromise. The RTZ is remarkably stable for a blade-style, tour-caliber wedge, a byproduct of Cleveland's ZipCore technology. By replacing heavier material in the heel and hosel area with a lightweight, low-density substance, this proprietary core technology shifts the CG towards the center of the face and yields discretionary weight that's redistributed in the head's perimeter. Essentially, ZipCore infuses the MOI benefits of a larger perimeter-weighted offering into a player-preferred tour-size profile and corrects the heel-biased sweet spot traditionally found in wedges.
While all tour-level wedges generate virtually the same amount of spin in pristine conditions, the numbers inherently decline when foreign substances prevent a clean strike.
