Research shows that 83% of a putt's starting direction is influenced by the direction of the putter's face at impact (the path of the putter head controls the other 17%). Lie Angle Balance (L.A.B.) Technology accounts for lie, angle, and weighting to create a putter that stays square to the arc throughout the stroke, delivering a square putter face at impact. Essentially, L.A.B. has created a perfectly balanced putter, eliminated torque, and, with no further adjustments, allowed golfers to make a consistent, repeatable putting stroke using far less effort.
The DF3 performs virtually the same as the original Directed Force, rendering mis-hits inconsequential, regardless of whether they're struck on the heel or toe. While M.O.I., stability, and forgiveness levels are effectively unchanged, the DF3's compact shape is much more appealing than its ungainly predecessor. It's worth noting that the cutout at the putter's tail picks up the ball without necessitating bending over.
The "i" at the end of DF3 stands for insert, which is the only difference between the two models. The stainless steel insert produces a firmer feel, faster ball speeds, and a less muted sound than the standard offering.
With its extended length, longer, heavier grip, and heavier head, the counterbalanced DF3i allows players to grip down, engage the shoulders, and encourage a pendulum stroke. This technique eliminates the hands, producing more consistent and reliable results. L.A.B.'s counterbalanced mallets have a vertical shaft (zero degrees of shaft lean); thus, they do not have a Press grip.
