Research shows that 83% of a putt's starting direction is influenced by the direction of the putter's face at impact (the path of the putter head controls the other 17%). Lie Angle Balance (L.A.B.) Technology accounts for lie, angle, and weighting, creating putters that stay square to the arc throughout the stroke and deliver a square putter face at impact. Essentially, L.A.B. has created perfectly balanced putters, eliminated torque, and, with no further adjustments, allowed golfers to make a consistent, repeatable putting stroke using far less effort.
Crafted with input from Adam Scott, the half-moon-shaped OZ.1 is the first Lie Angle Balanced putter with a tour-inspired design. Unlike L.A.B.'s other mallets, this putter features a solid-body construction and is fine-tuned to sound and feel more "normal." Most importantly, the OZ.1i maintains the same levels of forgiveness and stability L.A.B.'s mallets are renowned for, offering performance on par with the exceptionally popular DF3 and MEZZ.1 MAX.
The OZ.1 and OZ.1i are identical in size and shape. However, the i variant is the first L.A.B. putter model to employ a face insert. The stainless steel insert produces a firmer feel, faster ball speeds, and a less muted sound than the standard OZ.1.
With its extended length, longer, heavier grip, and heavier head, the counterbalanced OZ.1i allows players to grip down, engage the shoulders, and encourage a pendulum stroke. This technique eliminates the hands, producing more consistent and reliable results. L.A.B.'s counterbalanced mallets have a vertical shaft (zero degrees of shaft lean); thus, they do not have a Press grip.
