When developing the new G440 Drivers, PING had a singular focus: maximizing speed while ensuring the same game-changing, industry-leading forgiveness the company is renowned for. PING's engineers achieved this lofty feat through two crucial design improvements.
First, innovative Free Hosel Technology removes weight from a section of the hosel, creating discretionary mass that's strategically redistributed lower in the head. By aligning closer to the force line in the head, the newly enhanced center of gravity, the deepest of any PING driver to date, generates increased ball speed and optimizes launch and spin, producing consistently longer and straighter drives.
The second speed-boosting component of the formula required a modest update to the driver's shape. A lower face height allows a much more expansive area of the face to be thinner and hotter without jeopardizing its structural integrity, resulting in routinely higher ball speed, regardless of where impact occurs.
The 450cc LST model suits faster swing-speed players and those seeking reduced spin. A weight on the trailing edge of the driver's sole can be adjusted to promote a neutral, draw, or fade-biased ball flight.

Operating under constraints from the USGA in how hot the face can be and the amount of forgiveness makes it a challenge to continue to innovate.
