The Frequency-Tuned Face is engineered to synchronize with the ball’s compression at impact. That energy transfer, along with technology that enhances face deflection at impact, delivers faster ball speeds, optimized feel and greater overall performance.

PXG utilizes a sophisticated compression molding process to construct its high-grade carbon fiber composite crown and expanded sole inserts. Lightning drivers are constructed with up to 84 percent more carbon fiber on the sole than previous generations, which all helps bring exceptional stability, faster ball speed and improved distance.

While speed and optimizing distance was a priority for the Lightning family, stability, forgiveness and high MOI was also at the forefront with three weight locations on the driver. PXG implemented a rearward weight shift that increased the MOI in the drivers. The front weights have also been moved forward and lower towards the center of the sole, which increased stability. The updates saw an increase of eight percent total MOI in the Lightning Max and five percent more MOI in the Lightning Tour.

The Lightning fairway woods feature a progressive face geometry that adapts by loft to enhance accuracy on off-center strikes. PXG adjusted the curvature to provide the right amount of correction to ensure more accurate ball flights. The faster, thinner face design also allows for more explosive ball speeds for faster launch and greater distances. The Lightning model has a confidence-inspiring, square face profile with an ultra-low center of gravity, while the Lightning-Tour features a smaller footprint, taller face and more rounded sole for players looking for a penetrating ball flight.

A precision weighting technology helps to easily tune the trajectory and shot bias for every golfer in the Lightning hybrids. The square face design helps to maintain a low center of gravity and maximizing forgiveness, while the face insert has been made six percent thinner than the Black Ops model to bring more ball speed across the face. In addition, PXG has optimized the face geometry to give the golfer more accuracy on off-center hits, to make these hybrids both fast and forgiving.

The Tour model has a shorter clubhead with a thicker face and minimal offset. It has a thinner top rail and sole for players looking for a more compact style. The Tour model is designed for highly skilled players looking for control and spin.

The players model is a mid-size clubhead with a moderate sole and moderate offset. It has a thinner face for high launch and control and is a blend of distance and forgiveness. This model is typically for low to mid handicap golfers.
